While COVID may not be over just yet, there’s hope on the horizon as more of us in British Columbia become eligible for vaccines. With warmer weather around the corner, here are a few fun and safe activities to enjoy this month.

Be sure to check the bccdc.ca website for up-to-date information on restrictions, openings, vaccine dates and more.

Visit a Farmer’s Market

Looking for a great way to support local growers? Grab your favourite tote and head over to an outdoor farmer’s market! There’s nothing quite like spending a Sunday picking up local produce and sampling delicious local treats. Not only is it a fantastic way to support the community, it’s also the perfect outdoor activity to enjoy with friends and family.

Enjoy a (Safe) Outdoor Picnic

Why not enjoy a sunny, outdoor picnic with your COVID-safe bubble? Head over to your favourite neighbourhood park and create the dreamiest picnic spread. Whether you grab your outdoor eats by purchasing takeout or cooking yourself, this is the perfect chance to get creative.

Better yet, turn it into a mini potluck! Top it off with the cutest picnic basket and you’re good to go. Be sure to stay a safe distance from others!

Check Out Granville Island

Granville Island is a Vancouver favourite, and for good reason. There’s plenty to enjoy outdoors in this charming spot! Drop by the famous Granville Island food market and grab some eats for lunch to enjoy by the water. Feel like shopping local? There are plenty of shops and boutiques selling locally-crafted goods.

Stroll Through A Beautiful Garden

If you’re in the Lower Mainland, you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a gorgeous garden stroll. Take a walk in Queen Elizabeth Park, the UBC Botanical Garden, Bloedel Conservatory, or the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Botanical Garden. Don’t forget to grab your camera!

Get Active With Outdoor Sports

With most of us working from home these days, staying active is more important than ever. Luckily, exercising is even more fun in the sun. Here are some simple ways to get active this summer:

  • Explore a new bike route (we recommended Steveston Village to Terra Nova!)
  • Drop by your local driving range to enjoy some golf
  • Support + participate in a fitness-focused fundraiser
  • Try indoor climbing! Certain locations will be open to members or the public for up to 10 climbers at a time
